Antigen tests are also known as ‘lateral flow tests’. They are the tests you buy in shops and pharmacies and can use at home yourself. They are not as accurate as PCR tests, which are the tests you book with the HSE. These are tested in laboratories.
Antigen tests are an extra measure to help protect yourself and others from COVID-19. You should be familiar on how and when they can be used. You should only use an antigen test if you do not have symptoms of COVID-19.
If you have symptoms, you need to self-isolate (stay in your room) and get a PCR test.
