Status Orange Severe Wind & Rain Weather Alert – local information and numbers in case of emergency
A STATUS ORANGE wind & rain severe weather alert has been issued for Cork as Storm Lorenza moves in. The main impacts will include disruptive winds, falling trees and localised flooding.
Power outages may also occur throughout the period.
Currently trees are mostly in full leaf with a large surface area, so even moderate strength winds can bring down weakened trees and/or tree limbs. Heavy rain, coupled with falling leaves may block drains and gullies, leading to surface flooding.
Motorists are advised to report issues such as fallen trees and road damage to their local Cork Council office during working hours or to call the emergency number (021) 4800048.
