The Irish Government has published an updated regulation setting out expiry dates for the validity of certain Safe Pass cards. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (SI 528/2021 now provides for extension periods on previously set expiration dates.
The amendments now state:
Where the four year period of the Safe Pass card expired between March 1 2020 and October 31st 2020, the registration of the card shall be regarded as valid for a period of five years and eleven months (71 months). This is from the date of completion of the programme in respect of which it was issued.
And
Where the four year period of the Safe Pass card expired between November 1st 2020 and October 13th 2021, the registration of the card shall be regarded as valid for a period of five years and two months (62 months). This is from the date of completion of the programme in respect of which it was issued.
This regulation was signed into law on October 13th. It is important that both employees and employers are aware of these updates.
